Getting ePub to break into chapters

Has anyone been able to get PHPePub to split chapters? I can print entire books or individual pages as a single chapter ePub but I have tried to split, even a single page, on
by editing the .../PHPePub/EPubChapterSplitter.php search string (in various ways) to no avail. If this is possible, I would love to learn how. If not this would be a lovely feature.
I'm running on HostGator, PHP 5.3.3, and tried both 7.x-2.0 and 7.x-2.x-dev.
