I want to create a directory front page similar to craigs list front page. Categories sorted on alphabet with links to information pages. Is this possible? What modules would I need?

I am also looking for craigslist style clone or to know what modules to create this for myself, i'm very new to Drupal but really like the flexibility and power it does have. any help on this would be greatly appreciated. thanks. jimp849@gmail.com
