Why is this pattern not working? Sorry if I am ignorant

I am trying to create an alias

xxxxxxx.com/node/XX/projects

to

xxxxxxx.com/[ogname]/project_management

So on create alias I tried

/node/*/projects

to

/[ogname]/project_management

and its not working...

what is the correct syntax for using a wildcard for node id number when trying to create an alias?
