Is a release candidate or alpha due for 7.x-2.3?

It's compelling to upgrade to the dev version given support for CKEditor 4, and with almost three years of new development, however I'd like to be sure there is no major work still scheduled... an RC (or even an alpha) communicates the intention nicely.

Changes are coming. It's taking time simply because I have other projects and work also demanding a lot of time.
Much of the code is already written and committed to local branches I have, the problem is merging the changes in a sane way without breaking stuff.
The first ones which will go in are restructuring to correct old design problems and prepare for changes which do fix shorcomings in button/plugin handling. Upon that (and possibly other minor fixes), TinyMCE 4 support goes in before an Alpha/Beta/RC.
None of these should break backwards compatibility, but they do extend the API in various ways.
