Facebook like box and like button dissapearing

I'm getting the facebook like box and the like button randomly dissapearing.

If I wait a while they reappear. Have the social share widgets enabled on the teasers on the front page. I have noticed that its generating a huge number of requests to Facebook which is slowing performance and I wonder if maybe Facebook is blocking of as spam. If I wait say 15 min and reload the page the facebook elements come on fine. Any idea of this is the case or if not how to fix it?
