I wanted to write a post in one of the g.d.o. groups, but wasn't logged in. When I clicked the login and filled in my details I then got redirected to my profile page on d.o and not back to g.d.o homepage I was on.

Not a problem, but it would be a nice UX experience to be redirected back to where I was.

The equivalent redirects work on Drupal.org's D7 sub-sites. That code was not back ported to D6, and is minor enough to wait for those sites to be upgraded.
