I just upgraded drupal.org from Drupal 4.2.0 to the CVS HEAD version of Drupal (development tree).

This makes it easy to evaluate and review some of the usability improvements we are working on. Take a look at the improved forum views, for example. (For those that want to get involved: usability issues are discussed and prototyped on the user mailing list.)

Also, thanks to the new URL aliasing functionality, we can now setup meaningful URLs. A few examples:

Hey! To all those who made this possible - great work! I suggest a small cellpadding (if using tables for this) feature though. Maybe two pixels or so on the left and right (like it is from the top and the bottom). The text are too close to these borders for comfort...

Otherwise this is a HUGE improvement over the existing forums! Well done!

Hi, just something about URL aliasing...

I currently have the path module installed, and it seems to work fine in certain cases, and I was advised that URL aliasing will take its place, but my current installation of Drupal (a 4.2.0.-RC edition) doesn't include URL aliasing.

One of the other drawbacks (which is by design, I know) is that if I set "Joke of the Month" poll for July to url "jotm" and again attempt to set "Joke of the Month" poll for August to "jotm" I get an error stating that a duplicate key exists - which is expected, but I want it to overwrite that by default, but since most people would not *want* to do that by default, could this be provided as an option that is disabled by default?

I am considering another upgrade, but I have done MAJOR upgrades to some modules on my site, and upgrading is a pain, but I will consider if I will gain good benefits from it.

Any suggestions here?

Regards,

Kobus

i suggest you or tohers build an admin page where you can review all your paths. this admin page will include links to edit/delete the node so it will be easy to remap urls as you wish
