Hi,

Obviously, I've tried a number of different modules and proposed solutions.

Last thing, I've installed WYSIWYG and CKEditor and worked ok until I've updated WYSIWYG and CKEditor disappeared and refuses to return no matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall.

I remember how difficult it was since early days of Drupal 6 to get a text editor work properly and I was hoping this wasn't the case with Drupal 7.

If anyone has any advice to get a simple module that provides a non intrusive light HTML text editor, I would love to hear from them. Ideally, no multiple modules (such as WYSIWYG + CKEditor) as these don't seem to work well for me.

Thanks in advance

you don't mention the version of the ckeditor library in use or from what version of WYSIWYG you updated from. As such it's difficult to provide any guidance.

for a light editor I suggest the BUEditor. It's the same used here on drupal.org

D8 ships with ckeditor built in.

The documentation for the WYSIWYG module lists the versions of the compatible editors, incl. CKeditor. I've had this issue with mismatched editor versions (with TinyMCE). If you match versions according to the documentation it should be fine. Also, since you updated the modules consider rebuilding permissions in case that's blocking it's usage.

Thanks guys.

I finally found the problem.
CKEditor is not compatible with the latest stable release of WYSIWYG and needs the dev version instead.

My Drupal site reported several updates to do and as a result, I went ahead updating WYSIWYG causing CK Editor to break.
It's not easy to remember what not to update...

Hopefully, Drupal will finally arrive with a text editor that "always" works on the core
