Hi All,
Im from Melbourne, Australia.
Ive just created my first locally hosted site, uploaded files and database to my webserver CrazyDomains.
I seek a 'teacher' to help me configure my default settings.php file after several failed attempts from myself and forums.
I have low vision and am trying to get back 'to work.' Formally Computer Systems Support background, ive maintained a drupal site but have never had to create and host one from scratch.
I require somone, maybe for a hour or two, to log into my pc via TeamViewer, so I can see and learn from what your doing. I also need to be able to speak with you as obviously seeing is not my forte. I do have low vision but my brain is fully functional......
If your going to quote me a ridiculous rate dont bother replying.
If you think you can help me id love to hear from you!

Regards
Assunta

It sounds like you are trying to configure settings.php by hand which generally you should not be doing.

This is the second time this has been posted. Previously there was a local / AU component. There is still a remote login component. (I'd also prefer that old threads be bumped rather than duplicated, but no big deal).

The job seems, primarily, to be troubleshooting. I certainly would not want to troubleshoot with a client watching over my shoulder. I'd certainly likely take far less time, figuring out what was wrong on my own, and then reporting back -- rather than explaining my every step over TeamViewer.

My $.02 then would be asking someone to fix it, then explain to you. Should be less than an hour unless something is very odd-- though, of course, something may be very odd ("not easy.")

Hello,
Thank you nevets and 1kenthomas for your responsees.

Nevets - Im not aware of any other way other than to get into your settings.php file to update database name, username and pword etc details to connect files and database. after posting in the community forums i got the feeling this was the only way - obviously not.

Thank you for your feedback 1kenthomas. An angle i didnt see things from. A great idea to get assistance from somone and hve it documentated and explained later. Probably because im fearful of not 'learning' from the experience. And yes i probably have posted similar before, appoligies, i am going around and around in circles looking for an answer.

I feel drupal.org is beyond marvelous, but the user documentation stops suddenly and theres not much documentation about hosting at all, well, of what i could find. I hope to give back to the community and cover this area that im having torouble with upon resolving this issue.

Do i have any takers to troubleshoot my issue and assist me?
:)
Suggestions, comments as always appreciated.

Regards
Assunta

If this is a new site, you just visit it and the install script will run which will ask you questions and update settings.php

My guess was that the the standard install script wasn't working for some (unknown) reason? May make more sense to try another host if so... ?
