Displaying User Name instead of UID in file directory path

I am using IMCE along with CKEditor as a kind of file directory system for individual users to have access to. I would like to configure the directory path to show the user's name instead of their uid. The code on default for the uid option is u%uid. I've tried changing the uid to other values but this has not work. Support would be appreciated!
