Port to D8

The best way to do this would be to create a new 8.x. I'd prefer to review work via GitHub in that case. I've just pushed an (unmodified) 8.x-1.x branch to https://github.com/grasmash/drupal-usasearch. Feel free to fork and submit pull requests.

Can we get a status update on the 8.x port. I looked at the github repository and it looks to me like everything is there though I haven't tested it yet on an actual Drupal 8 site.

If it is ready for a beta could we get a release on Drupal.org for it?

The old Drupal 8 port is based on a much older version of the module. A port based on the current set of functionality is in the works based on version 7.x-5.x

@schiavone Do you have a link to the most recent Drupal 8 fork?

@ericpugh @grasmash's post is two years old. A lot has changed in the module since then. I'm not sure what the status of that fork is but the Drupal 8 based on 7.x-5.x is in the works. The fork is not yet available. ETA is first quarter of this year.

Update. D8 version of the module is being tested before being pushed out as the new 8.x-1.x-dev branch. So we'll have a Drupal 8 version here very soon.

Will the D8 branch be using the Search API? Asking for a friend.

@RoloDMonkey the D8 module does not use search API. The DigitalGov Search indexing service has its own API.

The dev version of DigitalGov Search is now available with a beta soon on the way. Try it out.
