Currently, if an entity type is disabled on the settings page but there's a configuration assigned to it, the settings page will say "Unknown" for the name. The name display should not have any bearing on whether the configuration or entity is enabled.

This only happens if you screw up the configurations and name them "vocabulary" instead of "taxonomy_term". Works as designed.
