Hi Everyone,

I'm building my first website with Drupal; it is a generic website where users will upload a photo, and I give them feedback about their photo. I want to use a distribution to do this since I don't want to start from scratch. There are not a lot of sources which clearly compare and review distributions, and so I have to ask here.

I had decided to use Panopoly since it seems to have integrated some of the more advanced modules and features, and also due to its support for responsive design. But I've read that Panopoly is really a base distribution. So, is there a better distribution to use for a Generic web site; or is Panopoly good for this purpose despite the fact that it is a base distribution?

Thanks,
Sam

If it's you first site, I would suggest to go with vanilla Drupal core. The standard profile is good enough for just about any site, and you'll understand what counts as a Drupal core thing and what is part of contrib. later, you will realize Drupal core itself is a collection of modules (node, user, etc) and mix-and-match would be more cleaner.

Thanks for your recommendation. I think it is a good idea to go with the core.

I agree with the above, I would start with Drupal core.
