A solo music artist can belong to one or many music band

Wondered if anyone can give me some advice on how to resolve this.

Each music band has members and i want to show each members' name under an artist page. In the artist page for the band, there will be list of band members. Some of them will have been in other music bands that are listed on the artist page and i want be able to show these band alongside their name. For example, in description:

Music band: Superstar Traveller

Band members:
Vocal: Nic
Drums: Derek (has own solo album under the solo artist name - Derek P)
Bass: Mia (also in: 'Chick Riot Band' and 'Funk It Band')

Some band members may have there own solo album so i'm trying to link or show a related artist of the same person which is then link to their solo album.

Some members may have been in previous bands (as example above: Chick Riot and Funk It Bands) that are listed on the site, so i want to link to these bands and have member's name included in the artist page for bands.

Would the easiest way is to create a new tag field and use this for artist names? this way i only need to tag the member under an artist on pushtape to create a relation between them?

Another similar example would be, Aphex Twin. He is under many different aliases and releases different ablums under these aliases: http://www.discogs.com/artist/45-Aphex-Twin

Other times, it is a collaboration, so i want to show something like: [artist name] also collaborated on [album name], [album name]...?

How would you go about solving these issue for the 'add/edit artist page'?
