Hi all, I am living in Kathmandu Nepal, and as you may have heard, we are in a bit of a mess here. The recent earthquake has left hundreds of pets and domestic animals missing from their homes. As an organizer for www.animalnepal.org, I want to see a website up where people can register their losses and others can use if they have found an animal.

In addition, it is expected that many pet owners will abandon their pets to the streets as they leave the city, as there are not a lot of boarding options, nor a single adoption shelter in the city. So the site should have a section for adoptions (both giving up, and taking in).

I have access to godaddy space where drupal is installed, and I have developed a drupal site before, but to be honest, I am overwhelmed at the moment with lots of things that need to get done - from dead-dog disposals to feeding working-mule owners & their families. I was wondering if some kind drupal expert could help out in this regard. Or perhaps there is an easier way to quickly create a site where users can post lost animal info, and others can search on that info and connect lost animals with owners. Please advise if anyone has an idea how to get this done quickly.

Thanks so much,
Jigs, a drupal member here for years...

thx, I will give it a shot... as long as I don't get bogged down in things like installing modules or editing PhP, I will be alright. I only have a few hours to spend on this tonight before I go back out into the field...
Cheers,
jigs

If you really are short on time and since it is an emergency, a simple and relatively good solution is to create a Facebook page.
That way anybody that has a Facebook account can share photos and comments of the pets.
This will give you time to get the ball rolling until you create a better site.

The info shared there can always be imported in a drupal site at a later date and, better yet, it will give you a basis on a good structure for sharing and creating action/participation around the necessities of the pets.

Good luck.

paean99, thx for tha idea. we do have a facebook page but I wanted something a bit more structured so I created this: www.lostandfoundnepal.org , easy enough only took a few hours. I am using Forum to allow users to create "listings" and the only issue I have is the label "Forum". Can you have a look here and recommend how to change "Add new Forum topic" to something like "Add new List item" or just "Add new" Then there are a few other spots that appear in the interface, like "Create Forum topic" and whatnot, but this is pretty close to what I want.

I just realized that I don't know how to add a module to a Drupal Garden site, or I could use a UI-text replacement module and add some pop-up help to explain. I do have space on GoDaddy where Drupal 7 is installed (and where I have free reign over the file system) so I am thinking that I could export from the Garden and relocate the site there, but dead dog bodies are piling up and I might have to move off this for a bit :) What do you think?

thx,
jigs

I don't know how to add a module to a Drupal Garden site

Unfortunately Drupal Garden doesn't let you add new modules. See Adding features to your site for more info (specifically at the bottom of the page).
If you want to add more, you may have to host it somewhere else. See Exporting your site.

how to change "Add new Forum topic"

To change the 'Add new Forum topic' message, just go to admin/structure/types/manage/forum and change the 'Name' field.

To change the headers of the table (Forum, Topics, Posts, Last post) you will have to copy the file 'forum-list.tpl.php' at modules\forum to the folder of your theme and change the word inside the print statements on the lines 39 to 42.

You might have to do others changes elsewhere...

Hope it helps.

I have searched Drupal experts on Google, and find one named as Chapter Three. May you can hire them to do everything for you.
