It seems that the project page is written only for users of Drupal 6! The section "Usage/Configuration" gives instructions for settings that don't seem to exist in Drupal 7. Maybe they exist with different names.

It would be helpful if you would include something like the following for Drupal 7 users:

Before enabling this module, if you go to "Structure > Content types > [a content type] » manage fields" and add a field of type "File", the edit page for that field has a text-entry box labeled, "File directory", described as an "Optional subdirectory within the upload destination where files will be stored."

After enabling the module, that edit page has a checkbox labeled "Enable File (Field) Paths?", which is checked by default.

  • If that checkbox is checked (default), then the "File directory" text-entry box is replaced with a new section of the page called "File (Field) Path settings". (This section does not appear in the same place as the text box it replaces, but further up on the page.)
  • If the checkbox is unchecked, then the new settings section goes away and the "File directory" box returns.

Project page has been updated, now it's only for Drupal 7.

I also plan on adding more documentation before the 1.0 release in the next few weeks.
