How to remove Request membership field on 'add members page' ?

I have set the request message (to join a group) to mandatory.
Now when users enter the 'add members screen' they also see a request message field which is mandatory.

A request message field for adding members doesn't seem to make sense.

How can i remove the field from the add member interface.
