anyone know of a working multi-image upload widget? seems hard to believe at this point in D7 there is no module to support this functionality.

plupload and multiupload both work fine. Are you having problems with either of them?
neither of these work
neither of these work too well. only one i can get to work 1/2 decently is plup which is obsoleted; but it has issues as well.
not sure what you mean by plupload; the plupload project is only an api module and does nothing on its own.
by mupload do you mean the sandbox project? we were using that quite successfully but when we recently switched to a new server it did not appear to work anymore. will go back and try it out again.

oh yes, the biggest show
oh yes, the biggest show stopped with muploader (if it was that sandbox you wre referring to); is that if the form fails validation then the images are deleted from the node edit form; but they are actually moved to the root file folder and the db record points there as well. (possibly also an interaction with file field paths).
