The description on the module page and the readme should be consistent. Does it work only with mini-panels, because in panes there are lots of errors generated. Does it work with panels 3?

In the readme:

This module adds an accordion style setting to Panels 2, more specifically
Mini Panels.

A JavaScript accordion hides all but the active area that a user clicked on.
When the user clicks the heading of an area it activates that area, the
rest will be hidden.

You need to be using Panels 2 and enable Mini Panels (for now).

I just tried to set this up with Panels 7.x-3.4 and it doesn't seem to work for individual panes. However, when I set a panel styles as accordion to both the panes, and the region, I was able to create an accordion for the entire region. This does make sense for how an accordion is defined, which typically has multiple regions that can expand/contract.
