Hi everyone I'm an newbie

I'm trying to install drupal to no good resuts. I've began by reading the main book, didn't find information about installation - correct me if I'm wrong, I started sequetially -, so I resorted to the installation node, didn't find information about my OS - I'm on Ubuntu Trusty Tahr/14.04 -, so I resorted to my distro documentation.

I tried to follow these instructions ApacheMySQLPHP, and these instructions Drupal, and these instructions whats-the-easiest-way-to-install-drupal-locally.

I've managed to get phpMyAdmin up and running - after a good fight of course -.

I have to add also that I have cgi-bin and man2html installed to render the man pages I need to read in the browser, as it's more parctical.

I have a drupal.conf file in /etc/apache2/sites-available and I enabled it so there is a corresponding link in the /etc/apache2/site-enabled directory.

Not sure if I forgot something to add.

So any sugge

Oh ye ... no that's all

So any suggestions.

thanks.

I have to thank the forum adminstration for publishing my post, although it should've been much earlier.

I figured out the problem my self. All the guides I reviewed considered /var/www as the content folder in which apache looks for files to serve, so they suggested that a would be drupal installer/user should add the drupal folder under /var/www and consider /var/www/html folder as another site. Well it turned out that /var/www/html is the main content folder that apache looks into when localhost is requested, and to visit http://localhost/drupal the drupal folder has to be under /var/www/html.

It kept me turning around my self for two days now, but I got it, and got some experience too.

All in all thanks for considering.
