Panel/Page Manager has this handy feature that you can add single fields to the panel to be edited.

With this module those fields render as Entity info. so that doesn't work at all.

There is a patch for ctools that I suppose also will fix this issue, it is for the dev version of ctools. See related issue.

edit: not so straightforward as I thought. Perhaps the patch can give an idea how to solve it.
