Display a message as Drupal Status or Error message

Hi,

I like the Message module a lot because it gives the site administrator a nice overview and user interface to modify system messages.

What I like to know is how I can display a Message as Status message or Error message through Rules?

=> When I create a rule that creates a new Message and I save the message immediately, I can not use the system action "Show a message on the site" to display the content of the created message. As content of the system message, I choose "message:text".
When I look at the message overview, I see that the message is created correctly, but the system displayed nothing.

I also looked at the Message Notify module but that is mostly focussed on messages that need to be send by email or sms...

I'm I doing something wrong or is this not a use case of the Message module?
