When I write a new multiple choice question, I don't always know where students will have trouble.

Therefore, I would like a field to appear, below a question, when I'm grading a test, that allows me to add feedback.

The current feedback rules aren't enough because they don't allow an instructor to provide feedback after the quiz has been taken.

This would be a good feature for all question types. Currently only short/long answer questions have this functionality.

It looks like multiple choice questions should have this feature. When I edit or write a question, there's a field that says "Question feedback" that appears above the Question field.

But this field doesn't appear in a completed quiz.

It will, if you choose "Question feedback" in your "Review options" on the quiz. The review options govern which feedbacks the user should see and when.

This is different than the short/long answer feedback, as this feedback is set per-question. The short/long answer feedback is provided by the Quiz admin per-user per-question.

Ah, then I guess this is a bug report because that feature doesn't work.

When I set up a test quiz, I checked the question feedback choice in the After the Quiz section of the Review options.

When I went to grade the quiz, the question feedback field was not present.

I'm uploading screen shots to show the results.

You can see there's no option to add feedback.

Do you want to provide question feedback or answer feedback?

Question feedback (all questions) = feedback on a question given to all users for that question, regardless of what they answered - this is set on the Question itself (when you edit the question)

Answer feedback (currently only on short/long answers) = feedback given to a user, individually by a quiz admin

For a multiple choice question:

If I check the Answer feedback box, I get a new column, called Feedback, appearing on the quiz results page. I can provide feedback but only when I write the question, not when I'm grading a quiz.

If I check the Question feedback box, nothing changes.

What I want is this:

1. I write a multiple choice question
2. A student takes a quiz and answers a question.
3. I grade the question and can enter a comment for an individual student in a field below the question. This feature exists for short answer questions and for long answer questions. It does not exist for multiple choice questions.

Here's what I want to see:

When I'm grading a multiple choice question, I want the question to appear like the image I uploaded below. The reason I want this is that it allows an instructor to give feedback on new questions, especially when students answer things in an unanticipated way.

Yes this is working as designed. MCQs do not have instructor-provided feedback during grading, like Short/long answers do. The "answer feedback" would show the instructor feedback when you grade the question.

I just want to make sure that everything is working as designed before we add this functionality to all question types instead of just open ended questions.

Thanks!
