Would any of the current maintainers of this Drupal module be interested in maintaining or co-maintaining the Backdrop version?
If so, I am willing to help in whatever capacity you think will best be of service to you. If not, I am willing to complete it, and I am willing to maintain or co-maintain the Backdrop version, once it is ported. https://github.com/biolithic/backdrop_basic_cart

The current system is that I'll take blame for Backdrop issues and the Drupal maintainers will take credit for its useful functionality.

Hi Alex,
I have done the initial porting. I did not have to port the Features/Strongarm/Views sections as they turn into Git controlled CMI json files outside the web root.
