Apologies if this is a duplicate, but it seems the Amazon suite of modules won't be upgraded to D6, so what would it take to add the ability to pull ISBN and other info from Amazon (via Ajax would rock) for Book types of the Biblio nodes. I'm willing to help out coding if folks this would be useful. I don't want to get too wedded to Amazon, but i'm starting to use the Biblio module for journals and now books for an online reference library, and being able to gather book info from the web would be great.

Or, feeds from LibraryThing.com...?

Let me know if there's interest in either idea, and then maybe if maintainers can tell me where to start looking in the code...

thanks,
m

PS - the biblio module is one of the top 10% best Drupal mods, IMHO

This is definitely a good idea, but there is no reason to concentrate on amazon. Ideally we would be able to scrape information from many websites the way CiteULike does it (http://www.citeulike.org/post).

Yes, amazon is only one, Library of Congress is another. Does CiteULike do all those?
thx,

The list of sites that CiteULike can currently harvest for publication info is given at http://www.citeulike.org/post. However it is relatively easy to write plugins for any other site that is not yet supported. All the plugins are open source, see http://svn.citeulike.org/svn/. Documentation is at http://svn.citeulike.org/svn/plugins/HOWTO.txt

It would be nice if the biblio module could use a similar plugin mechanism for harvesting websites for publication information.
