Working with the Brighton and Hove City Council’s (BHCC) internal team and Clearleft, we themed and built the entirety of the new corporate site in early 2013, which provides access to information on 800 services, with a focus on the successful online completion of key tasks for those who live and work in the city.

  • Developed via partnership with the council’s internal team and consultants Clearleft
  • Key miggle responsibility was the creation of a responsive website theme
  • information design relating to 800 services
  • miggle provided advice and implementation of social media integration
  • We also advised on improved editorial workflows and deployment

"It is always a pleasure to work with Alick and his team because of the deep collaboration that is achieved. They have expert knowledge with a versatile skill set so are able to contribute on a range of different levels including project management, technical architecture, coding and theming. The inception meetings take a positive problem solving approach, while keeping a focus on the practicalities of budgetary constraints and client resource capacity. Communication throughout the projects has always been excellent with quick responses and a wonderful level of engagement and commitment.” Jack McAngus, Web Development Manager, Brighton & Hove City Council

Why Drupal was chosen:

BHCC wanted to work with a system which was open source, partly to cut down on licensing costs, but also to give them something against which they could hire new team members in, because they could focus their candidate search around particular skill sets.

Describe the project (goals, requirements and outcome):

The key goal was to focus on the successful online completion of council-related tasks for those who live and work in the city, like paying for services, applying for a school place or finding out about a planning application.

Key modules/theme/distribution used:
Why these modules/theme/distribution were chosen:

Omega was chosen because BHCC wanted a base theme as part of an approach that saw them using contributed code wherever possible. Alsop, when looking for front end themers it would allow them to look for those who had Omega knowledge. The fact that Omega was responsive was also a consideration.
