Since it's been historically hard to get GPL icons on a regular basis, I'd like to propose that we switch to using an icon font instead of including icons. I would further propose that we choose FontAwesome since it's so regularly updated and so widely adored.

nattsI am also a fan of FontAwesome, but the disadvantage is that it is monochromatic - i.e. just one colour. So the icons would just be a single colour, with no gradients etc. which means they won't look as they should.
So instead of switching to it, I would suggest just having it as an alternative option.

jenlamptonI'm not sure I want to support more than one solution. Whichever is supported in the module, it will always be possible to do the other using theme functions. I'm still thinking about doing this, but not quite sure how to implement with so many ways to add fontawesome in the wild.
