Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
The 7.x-1.x version of the module is in a bad state. People should not be tempted by it. Let's remove it from the project page.
There's one module that still only supports it, webform encrypt, so I linked on the encrypt project page to the patch to get 7.x-2.x compatibility. I think that's good enough.
Any bugs we should fix before dropping support more completely?

rlhawkI love this idea. There's one 7.x-1.x patch that is RTBC, so I suppose we could commit it first, before dropping support.

gregglesYou mean #1927572: Key file is never used? I haven't tested it myself and am hesitant to commit it. I'm more worried about upgrade bugs, e.g. #2051225: Absolute path when upgrading from 7.x-1.1. But I think we could probably just make the change and then keep our eyes on the queue for any new issues.
