In past we recommended mimemail. Some people used htmlmail.
Now in D8 we are considering to recommend switfmailer.
In any case, in past, people were confused about what is needed to send HTML mail.
Also when combined with Maillog or any other logging tool, the system was not reliable.
Proposed resolution
Decide for a best practive we recommend.
Write a full integration test that takes care of the relevant processes.
