Is there any way to prevent menu items to show "as expanded" when they are the active trail (a selected link is opened)?

in dhtml_menu.theme.inc on line 48 I deleted this line and it bypassed the active trail " && !$l['in_active_trail'] "

worked for me in 7.1xbeta1
