"last comment" relationship with entity ref relationship breaks the view

I am not sure if it is the reference module but views unfortunately not showing what it should show. When adding just the normal relationship “last comment without the reference relation it perfectly shows the last comment of the specific node. When adding an extra “last comment” with an entity reference it only shows the nodes that have the entity reference. The “Require this relationship” is not active. It looks like it activates “Require this relationship” on the entity reference relationship.
