If notification emails sent to the same domain (email@thisdomain.com) that the website is hosted on (www.thisdomain.com). are not being received when a webform is filled out, this may occur if the email services is not hosted on the same server where the website is hosted. Then, if you using linux, make a change in "cpanel" to affect MX Record, because the Record is not set to Remote (by default), despite the fact the mail is not even handled here.

1. Log into your cpanel account.
2. Find the Mail category and click on the MX Entry icon.
3. From the next screen, use the dropdown near the top to select the domain name you want to work with if it is not already displayed. Next, look under the Email Routing section and click on the radio button labeled Remote Mail Exchanger.
4.Click on the Change button to save the settings.

The issue is explained here

P.S. I added this issue post, because the answer is buried deep in another issue post and took me forever to find, after trying other strategy. Im sure other people are dealing with this issue and frustrated, just making it more visible.
