I created a mimemail-message.tpl.php and added the logo image directly with the base64 code, but when sending the mail this code all the "+" are changed to " " and the image fails. I am not using smtp module, any idea of why it happens?

I think I have found where the problem is originated:

function mimemail_extract_files($html) {

Odd, I changed in "function mimemail_extract_files($html) {" the regular expression from
$pattern = '/(<link[^>]+href=[\'"]?|<object[^>]+codebase=[\'"]?|@import |[\s]src=[\'"]?)([^\'>"]+)([\'"]?)/mis';
to
$pattern = '/(<link[^>]+href=[\'"]?|<object[^>]+codebase=[\'"]?|@import |[\s]src=[\'"]?(?!data))([^\'>"]+)([\'"]?)/mis';

And my tests now avoid images encoded inside Only local images are allowed., but the mail continue failing. The string may be replaced somewhere else.

Patch attached. I tried a slightly different approach: inside the regex callback, if the URI begins with data:, just return it unmodified.
