When working with the dev version I get Notice: exif_imagetype() [function.exif-imagetype]: Read error! in _assets_get_icons() (line 562 of path_to_drupal/sites/all/modules/asset/asset.module) on a number of asset related pages. Attached is a patch to fix this.
