Portal of medicine and health in Spanish. Diseases and symptoms explained rigorously by health professionals. Blaumedica main objective is to bring medical knowledge to the ordinary Spanish-speaking citizen. Nowadays there are many resources of this type in English, but very few in our language. We, Blaumedica, want to help create content in the field of medicine and health with the highest quality and the greatest scientific rigor; but while trying to maintain the information understandable to anyone without medical training. To do this, Blaumedica has multidisciplinary professionals in the field of health in its Editorial Board and has the experience in editing scientific content of the publisher Blauplanet.com.
Why Drupal was chosen:
Since in this project we had to make relationships between different types of content, Drupal was the best choice.
Describe the project (goals, requirements and outcome):
The main objective of this project was to develop a very flexible resource of medicine that could be understandable for the general population. The user can found the disease by name or by symptoms, and access to detail information of the diagnostic tests used in each case. We try to avoid the use of specific terms, and when some non-common terms are used a link to an explanation of the term is included. Besides, references for additional information are always included.

Why these modules/theme/distribution were chosen:
The specific modules used for this project are Entity reference, to make frequent content interrelationships, Book made simple, because in many cases diseases are introduced as books (to avoid very long webpages, content is divided in different parts, that are pages of a book), Date, to include the date of the last modification of the site, and Display Suite and Taxonomy display, to improve content visualization. Other have been needed to get the Spanish version (Pathauto, Transliteration,...).
