Today the languages are set up as 'Bokmål' and 'Nynorsk', but generally this should be setup as 'Norsk Bokmål' and 'Norsk Nynorsk' so that it
- is easier to find
- logically grouped together
- It's standard, not many norwegians would start to look for norwegian language under 'B'

thorandre CreditAttribution: thorandre commentedYes, this is true. It is absolutely best practice to do it like the submitted patch: "Norsk bokmål" and "Norsk nynorsk".
Facebook does this using parentheses, but they are not needed. See attachment.

I am not sure when this was fixed but it was certainly before #2776975: March 3, 2017: Convert core to array syntax coding standards for Drupal 8.3.x RC phase when the array syntax was changed.
