CTools Export UI, Multistep Wizard and Modal windows plugins

Hello,

I'm the maintainer of OpenLayers module and I'm busy writing the new version.

As you can see, I'm heavily relying on CTools Export UI and Multistep wizard to build the admin interface and it fits perfectly.

There are 6 differents types of object in the module: map, layer, source, interaction, control and component.
A map is composed of each of these object plus some other properties.

My wish would be to use Modal windows when editing one of these objects while editing a map.

As all these objects are using CTools Export UI, do you think it's possible to use the multistep wizard in a Modal window ?

I've read tutorials and especially this one: http://internetdevels.com/blog/ctools-multistep-wizard-example but still, I'm unable to do something clean.

Do you know if it is possible to do it out of the box or I might hack something to get it working ?
