----- UPDATE ----
after a closer look I discovered that the URL Alias field is automatically filled out with value 500. This is causing the issue.

How can i fix this?

Today I tried to create a new page and to my surprise I get this 'The alias is already in use' error. I can't update any existing content either. I need to get this fixed asap.

Have a look

Thank you!

You should be able to delete an alias.
Try
admin/config/url alias

I haven't used Drupal 7 for very long, how can i remove this default value and have auto-generated?
