I tried to create a map of a part of my town (zoom level 16). Under Structure/Openlayers/Maps/Centre&Bound I define a centre point.

However, when saving this, the centre-point is displaced by several km.

I couldn't find any other bug report on this (not sure if it's a bug), but I found this blog post where in the comments someone describes the same problem and attributing it to the database trancating the exact coordinates.

Did anyone else experience a similar problem? And what is the workaround?

simon147, this might be a duplicate of Issue #2302169. A fix for that issue has been commited to dev, so you might want to try out 7.x-2.x-dev and see, if you can reproduce the problem.
