I think I might have made a change in the use og_group_ref in one of my content types. But it did not show up until after I restarted my server and my cache was cleared because I have caching on.

I'm placing this here while I troubleshoot more and as a forwarning to others.

on the og_group_ref fieldset there is a checkbox titled "Render Views filters as select list".
If this is unchecked and OG subspaces is chosen under Entity fieldset and mode field, then you get recursion.
