Greetings everyone!

After months of scratching my head and attempting to deal with Dreamweaver I have been reluable informed to choose a CMS. After looking around Drupal seems to be held in the highest esteem (after all it is good enough for the Whitehouse! :)

The site I am building comprises around 1,000 images and is going to be a website devoted to art. It will also contain payment buttons integrating the Paypal payment system.

What is the way to go? Is Drupal the answer to a commercial website with such a large inventory or another CMS such as Magento?

Are Payal buttons easy to integrate into Drupal?

Additional information:

1. My site requires a gallery (slideshow would help)
2. My site requires images to be clicked which enlarges the thumbnail from small to large images

Could anyone please point me in the right direction?

Many thanks!

General if you are selling something you would want to use either Drupal commerce or Ubercart, both are ecommerce packages for Drupal and both work with paypal.

Both 1 and 2 are doable with Drupal using contributes modules.

Thank you Steve for the input.

Is the Drupal commerce free and part of the normal CMS or separate?

Both are contributed modules and free.

I have a Drupal commerce instance with several thousand products in it with no problems. Commerce integrates nicely with Paypal and many other payment gateways, including some obscure ones.

Magento is nicely featured right out of the box, but it doesn't look as flexible in other areas - with Drupal you can build pretty much anything.

Agreed, use Drupal. Drupal Commerce will require more upfront "figuring out," while Ubercart works very well out of the box. My recommendation for your situation would be Ubercart because it has far less learning curve.

Cheers!
