Last month I upgraded my site and started to have issues on my shared hosting provider. They said that my site was using too many system resources because of a script running on Drupal. Since my unique visitor count had increased around that time to about 13,000 and after some advice from the Drupal Community I decided that it may be time to upgrade to a VPS server.

They (my new host) offered to move my site for me, we had some configuration problems at first but seemed to get the site up for about a week but now I cannot seem to get my website to run properly and I am looking for an experienced Drupal Developer who can help me resolve some common issues that seem to be occurring as well as help to make sure that everything is configured correctly on my new server.

I have been getting white pages of death, 504 Gateway Time-out error, Fatal Error messages, Base table or view not found errors, bootstrap errors, I have been having trouble accessing my site through the Drupal Interface, sometimes the site will load and sometimes it won’t, now my site is up for some reason but I am missing quite a bit of content from the last month. I feel that someone experienced with Drupal and web development would be able to get everything running properly again but as for my new webhost and myself… We have been unable to fix whatever is causing all this trouble.

In any case, I am not a developer in any way shape or form and I am simply not cleaver enough to find out what is causing my site to malfunction. I have been trying for a week and feel like I have gotten nowhere.

Usually I can Google an issue to death and get it resolved but I have hit the point of throwing in the towel. I need help as I cannot solve this problem myself.

My website is relatively small, less than a 100 pages but it does have a lot of comments, as it is an educational website (as opposed to a business). A lot of questions and answers posts…

As my site is an educational site it does pull in some revenue but not enough to justify hiring a Drupal development business or organization. I had contacted about 5 Drupal development companies who I assume are used to working with big corporations, big companies, or big websites because the quotes I had gotten just for them to take a look at my site have ranged from $3500-$6000 dollars (US). I cannot afford $3500+ just for them to look at my site. I cringe to think of the price tag I would face when they started to actually work on the thing.

I understand that a person’s time is worth reimbursement, especially in this field and I am confident that an agreement can be made that is both fair and reasonable to both me and my future developer and like I said, I have a feeling that an experienced developer would be able to pinpoint the problem(s) in no time and help me resolve them with minimal effort.

Please let me know if you think you might be able to help me solve this little dilemma and we can go from there. If you require any more information then don’t hesitate to ask.

I would like to thank everyone who contacted me in regards to this service request. I appreciate it immensely. After much consideration I have decided to hire a Drupal developer who is currently very active on Drupal.org and with whom I feel can accomplish the tasks I require of him and at a reasonable price.

At the moment I am no longer seeking assistance and consider this request on hold. Although we have not yet started to work on the site and it is still down I have a good feeling that it will be back up and running in no time.

If I require any more assistance on my site I now know one of the best resources to turn to and I will certainly reach out through this channel again.
Thanks again Drupal Community.
