i downloaded 7.3, uploaded all the files to my server, created a DB, changed the settings.php and sites/default directory to full access

the install.php script runs until the 'configure site' page (with site name, admin credentials, etc. currently after this page it just goes whitepage on me

What database are you running, what server?

It is most likely a configuration settings problem in your php.ini, mysql.ini or apache httpd.conf

There is many people installing drupal everday with no problems, so you will succeed.

I hope you mean 7.31 and not 7.3

What version of PHP are you using?

What version of mySQL?

What is the operating system?

jerryfreak’s picture

here is the phpinfo page, v 5.4.31:http://need-space.co.uk/greg.php
apache is 2.2.27
mySQL is 5.5.36-cl

domain is simplefuels.com, on a shared hosting package
sql database simplefu_drupal is created with user simplefu_drupal, user has been give full permissions

when you go to the root page is shows no content, it does show the 'site name; in the top

http://simplefuels.com/?q=user pulls up a login script
i cannot log in, as the default admin user (drupal)

it does not create any users in the table. there is user number 0 with no info and in the table and another row where it says 'placeholder for uid1'

so on the http://simplefuels.com/?q=user page, i can attempt to log in, i can request a new password (well if there was a user in the db to request one for!), http://simplefuels.com/?q=user/register puls up a blank page

In your index.php you can turn on error messaging:

<?php
error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set('display_errors', TRUE);
ini_set('display_startup_errors', TRUE);
// $Id: index.php,v 1.94 2007/12/26...

See:
https://www.drupal.org/node/158043

Then you will see what the problem is ;)

stevepurkiss’s picture

or stick those lines in install.php and set the site up again so you can see what happened

jerryfreak’s picture

current basic version (not a distro) downoaded yesterday, i beleive the release date was 8/6/2014

jerryfreak’s picture

it now says

<?php

/**
* @file
* The PHP page that serves all page requests on a Drupal installation.
*
* The routines here dispatch control to the appropriate handler, which then
*

prints the appropriate page.
*
* All Drupal code is released under the GNU General Public License.
* See COPYRIGHT.txt and LICENSE.txt.
*/

/**
* Root directory of

Drupal installation.
*/
define('DRUPAL_ROOT', getcwd());

require_once DRUPAL_ROOT . '/includes/bootstrap.inc';
drupal_bootstrap(DRUPAL_BOOTSTRAP_FULL);
menu_execute_active_handler();
error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set('display_errors', TRUE);
ini_set('display_startup_errors', TRUE);
// $Id: index.php,v 1.94 2007/12/26...

but i still get WSOD

and then i added the forced error reporting syntax so index.php now says this:

<?php
// ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
// - Display Errors
// ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ini_set('display_errors', 'On');
ini_set('html_errors', 0);
// ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
// - Error Reporting
// ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
error_reporting(-1);
// ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
// - Shutdown Handler
// ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
function ShutdownHandler()
{
    if(@
is_array($error = @error_get_last()))
    {
        return(@
call_user_func_array('ErrorHandler', $error));
    };
    return(
TRUE);
};
register_shutdown_function('ShutdownHandler');
// ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
// - Error Handler
// ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
function ErrorHandler($type, $message, $file, $line)
{

$_ERRORS = Array(

0x0001 => 'E_ERROR',

0x0002 => 'E_WARNING',

0x0004 => 'E_PARSE',

0x0008 => 'E_NOTICE',

);
    if(!@

    };
    return(print(@

};

drupal_bootstrap(DRUPAL_BOOTSTRAP_FULL);

error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set('display_errors', TRUE);
ini_set('display_startup_errors', TRUE);
// $Id: index.php,v 1.94 2007/12/26...

still no luck. that page kinda makes my head hurt, seems like everyone has a different issue causing WSOD. nobody mentioning default install

nevets’s picture

You want these lines

error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set('display_errors', TRUE);
ini_set('display_startup_errors', TRUE);

before the call to drupal_bootstrap().

Have you looked at the PHP logs?

boban_dj’s picture

hi,
when browsing to the url you gave: http://simplefuels.com/?q=user

I see the following errors:
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/simplefu/public_html/index.php:62) in drupal_send_headers() (line 1228 of /home/simplefu/public_html/includes/bootstrap.inc).

Do you have a script index.php in public_html with some print or echo functions?

you can read more here about this kind of header error:

Hi,
could you tell what your dir structure in public_html is.

also again check your permissions,
these are the permissions on a fresh drupal core:
How did you upload drupal core to the server?
