Solar Ignition

Solar Ignition is a venture capital fund and accelerator program for early-stage startups. We back entrepreneurs working on big ideas and values-based businesses using open source principles.

Traditional startup incubator and accelerator models don't address the advantages and opportunities of double and triple bottom line businesses. That's where we come in.

Our advisors are industry experts in startup mentorship, product design and business development, and provide rich resources including small business services, technical expertise, a network of contacts, and, on occasion, seed funding.

Depending on their needs, applicants accepted into our program can receive the following benefits:

We prefer to work with entrepreneurs and founders whose projects include open source components and contributions. The principles of open source software development — such as openness, shared credit and collaboration — speak as much to the values of the contributors as to the quality of the software.

There is a general lack of understanding in the business world when it comes to open source licensing. We have hundreds of successful launches that utilize open source components under our belt and we do not shy away from using open source technologies. In fact, we depend on them.
