Is there any way to enable/disable paging in view modes?

I encountered an issue with DS search results. The nodes with paging are shown in an undesired display (It shows the first page of the full body while 'summary or trimmed' is preferred). I do not want to use teaser as the search result display mode because slightly different fields should be shown in the search results. I would like to know if it is feasible to modify the paging module to select view modes in the admin page as well.

The patch we just committed in #2705469: Multilingual support adds a field formatter to activate paging. This may solve your problem with DS search results, since you can choose a different field formatter now for the full page display, teasers, or search results. Could you please test out the -dev version, and let us know if you are still experiencing this problem?
