I read in one of the issues that some people are integration your module with Solr but can't find any documentation or those entries in the issue queue that reference that.

Can you please point me in the right direction?

You know what?
I never tried that myself.
But from what users of the module have told me, it works best when you use Solr + Search API + IPGV&M.
See if that works for you.
