When I want to change the gallery settings and hit Save, I get "Parents field is required". But, I can't select a parent item anywhere (I can with normal Taxonomy terms, but not with galleries).

I hope someone can help.

Sorry, it was a bug in the Hierarchical Select module. It was fixed in the latest stable release, but that has some other bugs, which is why I didn't use this latest release. I used this patch instead: https://www.drupal.org/node/1286272.
