This probably belongs in Jobs, not Paid Services :)

There is nothing wrong with posting it here.

I thought we'd come to the conclusion some time ago, that geographically located "jobs" were not best here?

999 of 1000 people reading here, will have no interest in a position in any particular city; all it does is increase noise to signal IMO; however, my opinion on the issue is not strong.

If that was decided, it wasn't announced very clearly, as location based jobs are regularly listed here. On top of this, drupal.org serves a different group of users than groups, so posting in both places gets a wider range of responses. I've actually received a significantly larger number of responses from here, than from the groups page.

Since it has the location in the title, people who aren't interested in it can very easily ignore it.

Plus, we should have the jobs.drupal.org subsite up sometime 'soon' and I think we'll be deprecating this forum (though not sure what happens to bounties, but that's another issue.)

Thanks for the reply.

Is this being discussed online somewhere? Michelle and Hedgemage and I have discussed reworking this forum for literally years, with some contact with stephthegeek and Amazon, but for various reasons never found the bandwidth to do anything.

First and simply, better filters for different types of opportunities would be great. Equally, the ability to mark a post/position as "filled" (either by poster or mod) might go far. And of course, active moderation (as Amazon once did)-- I've tried a few times, but never wanted to step fully into the roll. And (as I just commented elsewhere) the ability to remove spammy replies to old posts / perhaps close old posts / or at least mark them as "defunct" or such, and not have replies (which are sometimes useful) bubble them to the top of the main list.

I've got your point :), however, my experience is that posts from less sophisticated parties than Jaipan sully the search space. IMO It's impossible to know if this is a (a) consulting/gig service or (b) a long-term position, or if it is (c) an advert for someone who must perform work in Japan or (d) just an advert from a company that happens to be located in Japan, based on the content of past post subject lines.

Thanks!

Here's what I found on the new jobs site: https://assoc.drupal.org/content/drupal-job-board-will-be-built (I have no connection with it at all.)

Thinking about it, I'm not sure what's doing to happen to this forum. (But that's a discussion for another time and place.)

If you want the content moderator role, create an issue in the webmaster queue. (I don't remember what permissions that role has - we have too many roles - but it might work for you.)

And thanks for helping out! (I have to end every paragraph with something in parenthesis I guess.)

It's posted in Jobs as well. And it is a paid service - I'm not asking the person to work for free.

Thanks for the reply, and apologies for any lack of clarity or rudeness on my part.

As I note in passing above, we've had very little active moderation here, I think, and it is unclear. It looks like there are plans underway to have a new jobs forum at jobs.drupal.org, which hopefully will address this.

Good luck in your search!
