Hey,

is it possible to integrate a feature to decide whether the geolocation is used or not? Maybe for mobile devices it would be necessary but for desktop systems not to start or hide the geolocation.

Yes that should be possible without too much code added to the module.

Alternatively, you could switch off the periodical checking altogether (IPGV&M config page) and use the "Set my location" block from IPGV&M 7.x-1.x-dev.
In that case users are only prompted to share their location when they specifically ask to have their location used.
They can also just type a city or street to set their location on the map, or pick a region from a taxonomy whereby each region has a Geofield attached.
