Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
I've been using this module for a few weeks, still learning Drupal myself though one thing that would be cool is... if we had the option to add a rel="NOFOLLOW" to the external links. Is this something we can add in a future version so we can turn it on or off in the Configure UI? I'm in a situation where some External links are out of my control and don't want to be linking into bad neighbourhoods.
Love the module - very handy :)
Hope this is something you'll consider.

elachlan CreditAttribution: elachlan commentedSince there is already a module with this functionality I will postpone this change.

elachlan CreditAttribution: elachlan commentedExternal links operates using javascript.
Search engines won't see anything that external links does, because they don't run the javascript.
Axel explained it well at #1393882: Add rel="external"
